Dear all,
As a road traffic victim, I do a lot of volunteer work concerning raising awareness about road safety and responsible conduct ... I want more. A European citizans' initiative seems a valuable option. My 'claim' could be: "We demand European legislation that mandates the installation of an alcohol/drug interlock from the time of production for all motorized vehicles registered on the European road network." I have been advised against it by people who have experience in the matter. Because it takes a huge amount of work and the outcome (political response) is mostly minimal or less ... I think (due to my Aquired Brain Injury) that I want to avoid such a situation. Nevertheless, I think that a civil, democratic initiative, nationwide, could still be more valuable than more top - down initiatives. I have been offered the possibility to go and speak to European audiences in the future. I will do so when asked, but a combo of both approaches could really work, in our democratic European setting. Therefore, I want to check in my network: Who in the academic world, in the media, in politics, in culture, in the publishing business, ... would support my long-term initiative from the start? All the best, Stijn Geerinck https://lnkd.in/etTM7EBb www.stijngeerinck.eu
